In the Arctic North of Siberia Clancy Engineering team was involved in modernization of the 8-section warehousing complex and upgrading its cargo and storage handling facilities.

The existing warehouse was a 75 000 m2 monolithic concrete three-storey building operating at over 20 m  height. It was built in the 1970’s in the permafrost zone.

The modernization project included the following:

  • Structural and Geological Investigations to assess the buildings condition, ground and permafrost condition;
  • Conversion of 3 levels into a single level of 20 m high, including demolition of the existing structure and design of a new steel structure;
  • Replacement of the 23.000 m2 ground floor for a suspended type, protected from permafrost;
  • New transport layout.
