Clancy Engineering team provided engineering consultancy and issued design drawings for conversion of the existing three -floored 7000 m2 shopping entertainment complex into a prestigious shopping complex in the center of Moscow.
The replanning project included installation of new openings in the existing slabs, installation of new escalators in the shopping center and travelators in the adjacent three-level car park, along with additional supporting structures and new foundations. Strengthening of the existing structures was carried out both in connection with increasing load and as a result of structural investigation, which indicated that capacities of the existing elements and connections were not sufficient.
The reconstruction project also included design of the new slab-on-grade at the basement level of the shopping center for the supermarket, construction of new underground tunnel connecting the shopping center with the car park, installation of round glass holes in the floors and design of cantilever extensions towards central atrium in order to increase the mezzanine floor areas.
Structural solutions entailed various techniques, including steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, reinforced concrete floors on fixed formwork from profiled sheets and precast concrete elements.
