Clancy Engineering team successfully performed design of a 75m high hotel building for the existing Black Sea holiday resort in the south of Russia.

It was located about 50m above the sea level on a mountainside in one of the highly seismic regions in Russia with complicated geological conditions. The designed 3-star hotel with a total area of 38.000m2 comprises of a 23 storey and an 11 storey hotel section, connecting to the existing conference centre with a roof car park.

The main structure consisted of a reinforced concrete frame with RC rising walls and flat slab construction.

RC concrete shear walls were designed to provide stability for each section separated by seismic joints to accommodate SNiP requirements. Our seismic team prepared and developed detailed 3 dimensional structural modelling using software systems to achieve the refinement of the structural design.

The project was challenging for our structural engineering team. The team had to proceed with caution and thoroughness to ensure in order to ensure the implementation of architectural solutions taking into account complex geological, topographic and seismic conditions of the construction site.
